Fossil Pokémon card prices: which printing do you own?

A Fossil card’s value depends on its number, edition, foil treatment and condition. Start by matching all four. A 1st Edition holo price does not describe an Unlimited copy or a non-holo card with the same Pokémon.

Identify your printing in three steps

1. Read the complete card number. Holo Lapras is 10/62; non-holo Lapras is 25/62. Holo Articuno is 2/62 (also written 02/62); non-holo Articuno is 17/62. Matching only the Pokémon name can lead to the wrong valuation.
2. Look for the 1st Edition stamp. On these English Pokémon cards, the black “Edition 1” stamp is just below the artwork on the left. An ordinary Unlimited copy lacks that stamp. The number alone does not distinguish these editions.
3. Check the artwork’s foil and the card’s condition. Holofoil has a reflective background in the illustration. Scratches, whitening, creases and surface wear affect the value of your individual copy. A catalog image can be representative; inspect your physical card.

This guide covers ordinary English Fossil printings. Special regional printings, misprints and altered or counterfeit cards need a more specific identification.

Why a PSA price can be very different

Raw means ungraded. PSA 8, 9 and 10 refer to certified grades, not a prediction from a photo. Compare the same card number, language, edition and grade. Our PSA values are medians of tracked completed sales, with sample counts and dates on each card page. If the provider has not verified the printing match, we label that uncertainty. A price gap alone is not grading profit: fees, shipping, selling costs and the eventual grade all matter.

Build a Fossil collection you can track

Choose whether you are collecting one copy of each numbered card or separate printings. Browse the set, open a card you own and select “Save this card. Create a free collection.” Your selected card stays with you through registration. In the Fossil checklist, enable printing tracking if you want editions kept separate.

Is the number shown a guaranteed selling price?

No. Use the correctly matched market estimate as a starting point, then compare recent sales in similar condition. Asking prices, raw market estimates and graded sold medians measure different things. Missing prices mean insufficient supported data, not that the card is worth nothing.
